Character: Quinn Fabray [ She was born Lucy Quinn Fabray but after transferring to McKinley she has gone by Quinn ]
Fandom: Glee
Character Notes:
History: Quinn was born Lucy Quinn Fabray. She attented Belleville Middle School until moving to Ohio and transferring to William McKinley. She was bullied throughout her attendance at Belleville due to her appearance and weight until she learned that she had a talent for gymnastics. When the weight began to fall off, and the family moved to Ohio, Quinn asked her parents to no longer call her Lucy - to instead call her Quinn. She died her hair blonde [ rather than the dark brown it had been ] and had a nose job. She joined the Cheerios at McKinley and became Captain of the squad. She also formed the celibacy club and became involved with Finn Hudson, becoming the schools power couple due to her being Captain of the Cheerios and him being Quarterback of the football team.
During a drunken night Quinn slept with Noah Puckerman - Finn's best friend - and ended up becoming pregnant. Though she originally told Finn that it was his - so that he wouldn't find out that she'd cheated on him - the truth was eventually discovered and Finn broke up with her. After an intense year - and tough Regionals competition - Quinn went into labour during the competition. Though she had considered keeping the baby she knew that she would be unable to properly care for the baby she gave it up for adoption, with the name of Beth [ which had been given to her by Puck ].
After being kicked off the Cheerios for being pregnant, Quinn convinced Coach Sylvester to allow her back onto the team, stating that it would look good for her. Quinn spent the first half of the year pulled between the Glee club and the Cheerios and push finally came to shove when Coach Sylvester gave Quinn, Santana and Brittany an ultimatum to choose between them. Although they originally chose the Cheerios for their popularity, Finn made them realise that the Glee club was where they should be as they were with people that cared about them, something which Sue Sylvester did not. Early in the year when Sam [ the new transfer ] was made Quarterback, that was one of the important things which finally convinced Quinn to date him despite her initial disinterest. Despite loving Sam, Quinn's feeling for Finn were relit. This caused a conflict for Quinn and she cheated on Sam with Finn, something which he found out due to Santana. Due to Rachel's feelings for Finn, Quinn and Finn did not initially get back together until just before Regionals. Quinn became jealous of Finn's friendship with Rachel, something which she tried to control and ended up losing him partially over as he still had feelings for Rachel. Quinn spent the rest of the year campaigning to be Junior Prom Queen, something that was important to her due to status. When she did not become Prom Queen her initial reaction was a wish to transfer when the Glee club went to New York for Nationals. When the Glee club reached New York, Quinn was close to leaving until she was stopped by her friends and reminded of what there was left - Senior Prom and the chance to be Prom Queen and a better year ahead, and only one year left until she could get out of McKinley and Ohio properly.
Personality: Quinn Fabray, former Captain of the Cheerios and leader of the Celibacy Club, is a smart yet manipulative girl, concerned with popularity and her 'queen bee' status. To Quinn, popularity is like money - if you have plenty of it you can get away with anything. Whilst she was Captain of the Cheerios she also dated Finn Hudson, the Football Team's Quarterback, and were known as McKinley's power couple. She later joined the Glee Club despite her status, even though she'd complained to Finn about it harming his status, as a spy for Cheerio coach Sue Sylvester, who wanted to bring down the Glee Club. Quinn used being a member of the Glee Club as an opportunity to spy on her boyfriend, making sure that diva (and rival for Finn's affections) Rachel Berry didn't become too close to Finn. When Quinn loses her popularity after becoming pregnant she posts a Glist with herself at the top. Once it is discovered that she is responsible for posting the list she admits that she cannot deal with being invisible, that having a bad reputation is better than not having a reputation. Quinn tries to get back onto the Cheerios for yearbook photos, successfully managing to do so before deciding that she would rather be with people who accept her - something which isn't an easy choice for her. After having her baby, Quinn again tries for the Cheerios, though she has to manipulate Coach Sylvester into allowing her to rejoin. When Quinn is later forced to choose between the Glee Club and the Cheerios, Quinn quickly chooses the Cheerios for her status before Finn makes her really think. Though she loves being popular and cheering, she is happiest in the Glee Club with people that make her feel special and actually care about her.
Although Quinn is seen mostly as a bitch, she does have a sensitive and caring side, though these are more rarely seen. When Quinn is pregnant her emotions, particularly those regarding being invisible and not being liked, are seen along with when she helped Mercedes struggle with being a Cheerio. The next year when Coach Sylvester threatens to fire Brittany out of a canon, Quinn sticks by her telling her that they'll find some way around it. Later that year when Sam's father loses his job she helps him out by babysitting, helping him especially with his younger sister. Another moment of Quinn's vulnerable side was shown when her true identity was revealed during her campaign to be Prom Queen. Rival Lauren Zizzes, another runner for Prom Queen, confronted Quinn about who she used to be and her reasons regarding running for Prom Queen. When confronted, especially when a poster of how she used to look appears in school, Quinn becomes incredibly emotional. She fears ever being bullied again, fearing now becoming more unpopular and fears that this will ruin her chances at being Prom Queen - when in fact it increases her chances.
Quinn is also incredibly insecure. She told Lauren that she loved herself, though she needed to change how she looked before she fully could. Though she is again dated Finn and says that she trusts him, she doesn't trust Rachel and goes as far as to say that her relationship with Finn succeeding depends on whether or not Rachel and Finn duet. For them to work Rachel and Finn are to never duet again - whilst she trusts Finn she does not trust Rachel and, in a way, is jealous of her for how comfortable Finn is around her. Although Quinn is incredibly manipulative she is also a little naive, due to her insecurities and goes so far as to believe and become upset by the rumours posted in the school's newspaper.
Though Quinn used to be the queen bee and was incredibly mean and bitchy towards everyone, this has now been seen to decrease and she is nicer towards many people - except for Rachel. As well as due to losing some of her popularity from quitting the Cheerios, Quinn also remembers what it was like when she was bullied and no longers bullies other students, and in fact is more sympathetic towards them. Though Quinn is still particularly mean, her niceness is shown more now than it ever used to be. She wishes to rebuild her old life and retain as much of her popularity as possible, aiming to become Prom Queen, though her methods towards the other students are different and though she does still manipulate them, it is less obvious and she is nicer towards them also.

First Person (entry type): Next year? That's... I don't even know what to think. I barely know what's going to happen over summer, or what even happened. There was so much, how do you move on from that? Everyone says that I'm strong - even when I'm not being a bitch - but I'm not that strong. The year before was hard enough but somehow this seems worse - at least then I wasn't a complete fool. Or made a fool of. I mean, I lost prom queen to Kurt. I don't even know how that happens. And sure there's next year but who's going to vote for me? I'm in the Glee Club. I'm not even a Cheerio anymore and there's not exactly prom king. And then we lost Nationals, not that anyone even thought we had a chance of winning. So what? We just go on as normal and try again? It's our last year and we're probably the least hopeful group of people going into the year. How is any of this going to help? That I'd love to know.

[ You don't see anyone at first, just a room. It's simple, rather elegant for its simplicity but with obvious focuses on certain things - mostly cheerleading and prom. And then Quinn walks into view, an object in her hand and sits down in front of the camera with a sigh ]
This used to be my life. I'd say is but there's not much of it any more that still feels like it. I lost everything, and as much as there are some things that I still like, even some people, I can't help but miss it.
I used to be a cheerleader - Captain of the Cheerio's. I was dating the star Quarterback and everything was good. And... then it all went wrong. [ She's not ready to talk openly about it, not to strangers. This is a little more personal than her comfort zone would like but she needs to vent, even if certain people might see it ]
I got some of it back. After being shamed and losing everything I got a little back. I was a cheerleader again but it never seems to last. Somehow I thought being a cheerleader made everything better and for a while it was, and then someone made me decide that it wasn't worth it. I still can't decide whether I regret listening to him or not. [ And her tone is becoming ever more pointed ]
So I quit the Cheerios, became a loser again but I was happy... for a while. Prom was coming up and nothing would be better than that. I was on top, destined to be Prom Queen and ahead in the polls.
[ And she holds the tiara up, hesitating as though she was going to put it on ]
This was my tiara, sadly nicer than the crown was but... I didn't get it. I'd lost being a cheerleader, lost everything that made me me and I lost this.
And then we lost. It's not like you can go anywhere from there. [ She'd been planning on leaving and she still wanted to. What else did Lima have for her? Nothing, in her eyes. She'd lost too much and hit the bottom so many times. How could you go anywhere after that ]
The point of this is... [ She shakes her head ] I'm actually still working that one out. People say the signs are obvious, that there's always something there... I'm still waiting.
Third Person: Quinn had avoided the day when it had come around. She'd been quieter, more distant but she'd been trying to avoid it all the same. Mothers day was stupid. It was stupid that she even thought about it. She wasn't a mother, not really. Her baby had been adopted and that was it, Beth was Shelby's kid now. And yet she couldn't stop thinking about it. All that day she'd kept telling herself that it was stupid. To make it worse she didn't have school to distract her. She'd spent the day with her own mother but that hadn't helped - her mom had known what was distracting her and they'd talked about her. At least until Quinn had moved the conversation on. Beth was always somewhere on her mind but this was the first time in a couple of months that she'd been at the front of it.
And then her birthday had come around. Not hers but Beth's. One year ago they'd been competing at Regionals. One year ago they'd lost and one year ago she'd given birth. At times she barely remembered it - it had all been one big blur - but at others, and most of the time, everything was clear. It was almost in slow motion. The pain. The emotions. And then nothing. Just the cries from Beth and the silence that was held by everyone else. The baby that she'd given up - the baby that she'd considered keeping... she was one year old.
And it crushed her. Quinn hadn't connected with her, not in the bond that you hear about. She loved her in a way. She'd carried her and protected her, even doing the best that she could to find a good home for her. She couldn't not love her after that.
But feeling all of this? Wanting to be there, just to see her to wish her a happy birthday.
To hold her.
Beth wouldn't know who she was - she doubted that Shelby had a picture of her - and she certainly wouldn't remember if she was there or not.
But somehow that didn't matter. Quinn couldn't get Beth off her mind, not that day. Her daughter was a year older. Had experienced so much that she would never know and all she could do was feel sadness. Even guilt. Guilt for not being able to be there, for having to give her away, even though she knew that Shelby was perfect.
